How many sessions will I need?
The amount of sessions required depends on what we are addressing. For instance, Self Care and Stress Reduction may only require 1 session for you to feel good and restore balance. To increase Confidence, a few appointments may be required to notice improvements. Everyone is different, but generally we find 1-5 sessions is common for most people. Your openness and active participation will also increase effectiveness.
What is Wellness and Performance Hypnotherapy used for at Zoie Wellness?
Hypnotherapy is just one of the many processes you will receive during your appointment. By using hypnosis we can interact with the subconscious mind in an open-reflective process to create positive change in your life. Through hypnosis, your behaviour can be modified to benefit you by replacing the old beliefs or behaviours that you no longer need or want with the new ones you desire. By harnessing the power of your own subconscious mind, Hypnotherapy is often quick and effective in resolving personal obstacles, improving focus and performance. You can effectively replace limiting behaviours with attitudes and actions that promote growth, success and an enhanced feeling of overall wellness.

Can I be hypnotized, and what does being in a state of hypnosis feel like?
Hypnosis is simply a state of relaxed focus or a heightened state of awareness. It is a natural state that each of us enters in multiple times a day, without even knowing it. Examples of this would be when we are falling asleep and when we are waking up. That kind of fuzzy, timeless state between dreaming and awake is a trance state. People enter natural states of hypnosis often throughout the day. Other common examples of this are while driving, day dreaming, watching TV, and listening to music. Expect to feel deeply relaxed and peaceful, it is a natural state that we enter everyday so everyone has the ability to be hypnotized.
When under hypnosis will I still be in control?
Hypnosis cannot make you do something that is against your morals or ethics. The point of hypnotherapy is to facilitate positive changes by accessing your powerful subconscious mind. In order for those changes to take place, you must want to make the change. The number one job of the subconscious mind is to protect you and it is always working to protect you. This includes while you are in a state of hypnosis. You will be fully aware and in control.
Is Hypnosis Safe?
Hypnosis is widely considered very safe. It is impossible to get “stuck” in a state of hypnosis. Since we must enter a hypnotic state to fall asleep, it is possible to fall asleep during a session but we will ensure that you are at the perfect depth to facilitate change. You will always come back to full waking state after every session or whenever you want to during the session. You are controlling the experience. You may feel tired after your appointment or it's possible to have a slight headache (if you were dehydrated to begin with).
Zoie Wellness uses Positive Suggestion technique in the hypnotherapy portion of your appointment- it is a safe and effective method for goal achievement and feeling better. We choose not to utilize Regression techniques to uncover old memories as a hypnosis process. While rare, emotional distress and confabulations (false memory creation) can occur when regression techniques are used. Our approach is to move you forward, not take you back.
Do you offer In-Person Appointments?
Due to Covid-19 we are not currently seeing clients in-person. We want you to be as comfortable as possible, and wearing a mask during some of the relaxation processes we utilize would impede that. Thankfully, appointments at Zoie Wellness are just as effective online or over the phone.
How do I get ready for my session?
THE DAY OF YOUR APPOINTMENT: Please refrain from consuming recreational drugs or alcohol before your appointment. It is best if you are hydrated and have eaten at least an hour prior. Wireless headphones are recommended but not required.
AT YOUR APPOINTMENT TIME: Be settled into a peaceful and quiet environment where you will be undisturbed for the length of your appointment. Click the Zoom Link sent to you a few minutes prior to the appointment. Be sure to turn "on" your video and audio.
BEST PRACTICES: For best audio/video connectivity, please join your online Zoom meeting room from a computer rather than a smartphone/mobile device. Log in at least 5 minutes early to ensure everything is ready to go and you can connect to Zoom. Be in a comfortable chair and environment. You can have a yoga mat, couch or bed close by in case you would like to lie down during the hypnotherapy portion of your session.
Backup method: If we get disconnected or the Zoom call isn't working, we'll use your backup line which is usually your phone.
Have that on hand with you. (If you would prefer an appointment over the phone, please let us know- we’re happy to arrange that with you)
